CANNABIS
Cannabis is a genus of flowering plants in the Cannabaceae family, related to hops and, more distantly, roses. Cannabis can be used for an incredible range of products from paper to medicine. There are multiple species of cannabis, the most well-known being indica and sativa. Both species naturally produce many beneficial organic compounds including terpenes, flavonoids, fatty acids, and especially cannabinoids.
HEMP
"Hemp" is one variety of the cannabis plant, which refers to plants that contains 0.3% or less THC content (by dry weight).

THC
"THC" is short for Tetrahydrocannabinol, and is probably the best-known cannabinoid in the cannabis plant. THC is the main psychoactive cannabinoids in the cannabis plant.
CBD
“CBD” is short for cannabidiol and is one of the most commonly known cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. CBD is a highly beneficial cannabinoid, best known for its role in treating neurological disorders and mitigating THC’s psychoactive effects.
In 2018, The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the first medication using CBD, called Epidolex, to treat two rare but severe forms of epilepsy that begins in childhood.
TERPENES
Terpenes are fragrant, organic oils found in a variety of plants like rosemary, lavender, and even pine trees. Terpenes contribute to the healthful benefits of cannabis plants. There are more than 200 known terpenes, each with a different profile and set of effects. Like cannabinoids, terpenes bind to the endocannabinoid system throughout the brain and body to deliver unique qualities and effects.
THE ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a network of receptors in the human body that bind with cannabinoids. Two different receptors have been identified, CB1 and CB2, which help regulate various biological processes such as brain cell activity and the immune system’s inflammatory response.
CANNABINOIDS
“Cannabinoids” is a proper name for the compounds found in the cannabis plant. There are over 113 different cannabinoids naturally occurring in cannabis, with different healthful and beneficial properties. The two primary cannabinoids produced by cannabis are cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
CB1
Cannabinoid receptors are a part of the endocannabinoid system, which regulates physiological processes. CB1 receptors are primarily found in the brain and central nervous system, as well as other parts of the body.
CB2
Cannabinoid receptors are a part of the Endocannabinoid System, which regulates physiological processes. CB2 receptors are primarily found on white blood cells, the peripheral organs, and in the immune system.

The most recognizable part of the cannabis plant, fan leaves vary in size and shape across different species.
TRICHOMES
Trichomes appear on cannabis buds as crystal rein and develop with the specific purpose of protecting the plants against natural elements and predators. However, trichomes are also the home to the most potent source of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. Hectare’s oil is sourced only from this part of the plant!
MALE
Cannabis plants are male, female, or both. The male plants pollinate the female plant, which kicks off flower and seed production. While male flowers serve a purpose for reproduction, they are not used for cannabis products.
STEM
The cannabis plant grows on a tall, thin stem, though the exact height varies across species and varieties.
FEMALE
Cannabis plants are male, female, or both. The female plant produces large flowers containing trichomes, which we trim down and turn into the cannabis products we offer.

CBD products in the marketplace are typically divided according to the range, or spectrum, of cannabinoids included in an extract or finished product. It’s important to remember that there are no governed or official definitions when it comes to product “spectrums,” so how companies choose to define them can vary.
FULL SPECTRUM
Unrefined hemp extract or crude oil which contains everything extracted from the plant, including many cannabinoids such as CBD, terpenes, flavonoids and fatty acids. It also contains minute traces of THC (0.3% or less).
BROAD SPECTRUM
Refined hemp extract. Refinement which removes psychoactive compounds like THC, but leaves all other cannabinoids (like CBD), plus organic compounds such as terpenes, flavonoids, and fatty acids.
ULTRAPURE
Also known as isolate, is fully refined hemp extract which has been stripped of all other cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids, yielding only CBD.
